The Kazekage's HQ

The Kazekage found himself back at his headquarters, standing outside his office, his eyes seemingly focused on one thing or another. This time round he was without his Kazekage robes, instead he was in his usual attire. A hat known to him as Niou was being sported on his head. He could hear the frantic noises of a few scurrying around. His eyes and ears helped him to survey the area, before feeling a sharp pain in his shoulder area. The man gritted his teeth, meanwhile grabbing the area. A clear sign that he needed to let the curse roam free for a while. He needed to conquer the damn thing once and for all. Horus took a few moments to compose himself, meanwhile noticing a sudden shift in his Chakra. It was becoming overpowering to a degree, but not yet harmful to the Kazekage. A strange occurrence for him, but not unexpected at all. In the mean time, the man stood while feeling the wind caress his body. His hat provided shade from the sun high above the village. The heat was bearable for the man, as it was for most inhabitants of the village. In moments the Kazekage began to form a set of hand seals, while molding Chakra to his liking. The village needed to cool off on this day of days. The sunny skies saw rain clouds form above them, which caused some stirrings within the village itself. These dark clouds will most definitely serve a purpose as thunder roared through the heavens.

The village was shaken up as a result of this miracle. The hand of Kazekage rose towards the heavens as rain began to pour down from the skies. It was raining over Sunagakure now, meanwhile providing a sensory of pretty much all of the village. The Kazekage had warned this would happen, which is why he created certain missions to deal with this. Sunagakure will from now on not experience a shortage of water while Horus remained the Kazekage. The rain was calming despite pouring down so fiercely. Although it was far from being a hurricane. The natural winds of the village helped in spreading it across the plains of Sunagakure. And as for the Kazekage, the man stood his ground, feeling the water bounce off his hat. He should probably go inside his office, but he was still waiting for Vaati to report back to him.

The young ninja dashed hurriedly past the numerous city guards, accompanied on both sides by a pair of Jonin(NPC) escorts. The explosion from earlier was fresh in his mind, as were the events that proceeded it. If nothing else, Vaati needed to compose his thoughts in a rational manner. He was not prepared for the results that occurred. At the moment only the biggest events were replaying over and over in his head. That couldn't be his whole report, though. A few indistinguishable figures that may have been the Hokage's group began to fight before a sudden explosion occurred. That information was worthless by itself. No, He needed to replay the days events over. The information he held could be the difference between war and peace. His body was on auto pilot, dashing left, right, up and over as he made his way to Suna HQ. His mind however, was on a different plane altogether as he began to relive his version of events. If a picture was worth a thousand words, he needed to make sure he picked the correct ones from the collage of images in his head.

"It began when I began to trail the hokage's group. The three soon split up, two of them heading west, toward the direction of the oasis. The Hokage, continuing south toward the gate. Remembering, the suna ninja's invitation to the Oasis..." He stopped his inner monologue. He couldn't begin his story trailing the group, if he also needed to identify the other ninja as it pertained to his report. He started again.

"It began prior to the end of the Kage's meeting. A Suna ninja approached, one I could not identify. This ninja however was familiar with me, and mentioned me by name to the Hokage's companions. From the look in his eyes, I'd assume he was a member of the Hyugga clan. He seemed almost too familiar with the Hokage's female companion, Akira. The three of them spoke briefly, before he issued them an invitation to meet him at the western oasis as well as escort them. The invitation seemed to be more directed toward Akira as he used her name. Oboro was only identified as 'her companion' and seemed to me he was only invited as to prevent the exclusion of such invitation to be taken as insult. " He paused for a moment, as he went over the details of that meeting. "While it is possible that ninja may have been a spy, the fact that he was met initially with hostility from Akira and that their meeting was so public leads me to believe that is not the case."

His inner monologue continued. "After the Hokage left, I began to trail them. It was not long until they split up. Remembering the earlier conversation between the Hyuuga and Akira, I assumed he would be meeting with them shortly to escort them to the Oasis. I felt it best to remain near the Hokage, While an incident involving his companions would be unfortunate, one with the Hokage would be worse. "

He thought a moment exactly what the ramifications war might hold. It had been said that the enemy of my enemy is my friend. However, could that necessarily be true. While Vaati held little love for his Village, his home was far across the desert. He did wish to have Suna suffer for the travesty that was brought upon his clan and his stolen birthright. He began to believe that should Suna be destroyed by Konoha, the remnants of his clan may be targeted next for his part in the war. Should suna win, however, they would be properly weakened and would be weak to another attack. Should war be averted, however, The village would only be strengthened by it's new allies, and Vaati's revenge would become that much more difficult after additional bonds of friendship were created. No, out of the three possible outcomes, only peace made his ultimate goal the most difficult. Perhaps this was what his mother meant when she whispered those words across the desert wind. "It's time". For the proper outcome to commence, he could not withhold any information. The Kazekage needed to believe that this decision was his alone. He would have to ignite the flames of war, even if Vaati stood by ready to fan the resulting cinders. The choice was made.

"The Hokage seemed indifferent as he traveled among the town, however, I did notice small markings that were left behind on objects and locations after he touched them. Upon closer inspection, I noticed they appeared to be some sort of formula seal, in what appeared to be the shape of a three pronged leaf. He seemed to do some shopping, drink some sake.... all in all, it was quite mundane. He continued this for about three hours. Suddenly, as he approached the main gate. He began to preform jutsu of some sort, and appeared to make 2 clones all in sight of the main gate guards. Leaving the Hokage under their watch, I followed the clones, however they were too fast for me. As they headed in a northwesterly direction, I headed to the Oasis and assumed they would be converging there." Vaati paused once again. The Suna HQ was now only about 100 yards away. But his story had yet to conclude. He continued.

"I arrived at the Oasis, surprisingly before the hokage's group had arrived and took up a position upon the Oasis water tower. It's height provided a great view of the surroundings. The suna ninja from before was already there. However that meant that both Akira and Oboro had been left unattended in the village for about three hours. What they did, and where they went prior to their arrival I am not aware of. Shortly after I had taken my position, They arrived. While I was too far away to identify their faces, their outfits seemed identical to before. Before I knew it it appeared that some sort of alturcation was taking place between Oboro and our ninja. I cannot say who started it, for the next thing I knew 3 other suna ninja's arrived and moments after that two other ninja that appeared to be either the hokage or the clones he created. The next thing I knew, a giant wooden tower was created from the ground lifting high up into the sky. The Suna ninja appeared to get knocked up and back from it, however before he landed there was a blinding light of a giant explosion. As the dust began to clear, I noticed some fragments of flesh around me, including what appears to be a fingertip. All that remained was the newly created wooden tower, and a freshly formed crater. All those involved were no where to be found. "

He quickly entered the building, walking past the guards. Rain now dripping from his cloak and the tip of his hat. He was almost ready to give his report. Only had to finish. "It wasn't long after that other ninja began to arrive on the scene. I set to work and had a perimeter set up. Medical nin are now on site scouring the site, looking for any more fragments of flesh. I also brought a splinter from the wooden tower for further analysis." he paused once more as he headed up the steps. The objectivity of his report would end there, now was time for his opinion to finish. "It is my initial belief that we have been unprovokedly attacked by the Hokage and his companions within the walls of our village and that they took this opportunity to gauge our defenses and put contingencies in place for future assaults." As Vaati looked ahead of him, He could see the Kazekage waiting for him outside his office. The two jonin stopped at the entrace to the hallway, but Vaati was now properly prepared.It was now time to see just how prepared Horus was for the truth of what he had to say. "Kazekage, I'm here to deliver my report."

The rain poured down over the village while the Kazekage maintained his position. His sensory reach was now far more impressive, feeling all the little ones roaming about the village. In time however, he felt the Chakra signature of an old friend. A man who may have set certain events in motion for Horus. This man was always referred to as the old geezer or old timer by the vagabond of a Kazekage. He held a grin on his face while the old man approached him. His head cocking off to the right , as the man raised his left hand and rubbed his chin area. Despite his smile, Horus still held a concerned look on his face. "Is it going to rain all day, dear Kazekage-sama? An old timer like me will catch a cold with this sudden change in weather ya know. Like seriously, its amazing to see this rain, but what made you want to do this?". The old geezer complained to Horus, thereafter prompting a friendly chuckle in response to his gripe. The rain was something new that the people of Sunagakure were experiencing. But Horus had his reasons for bringing down the waters from the heavens.

"Ya know, if I had a single ryo for every time a citizen of Sunagakure wished for rain. I would hereby now be the wealthiest person in all the lands. But ahh..I'm sure ya already know my reasons for this. This rain will pave the way in ensuring we don't die of thirst or famine. Say, hows your granddaughter? I think she will grow up to be a lovely woman. You've given me so much, maybe you will give her onto me as well, no?". Bang! Pow! "Ouch! Whats that for?". The Kazekage exclaimed, knowing full well why the old man decided to whack him with his cane. "You know why you lowly brat!". The giggles of the Kazekage could be heard afterwards as the vagabond straightened himself up. The rain soon began to ease up, but not completely. It was now pouring down in drizzles, as opposed to its powerful downpour from before. "Do keep in mind you talkin' to the Kazekage. In any case, I was merely screwing around. So what did ya wanna discuss?". The old man took shelter before glancing over at Horus. It was time to get down to business, and the mood shifted to a more serious one in accordance to this.

"I heard through the grapevine that there will be an Kage summit soon. It is supposedly the summit that will be used to introduce all the various Kages. Only Iwagakure stands without one as present, and you already know the reasoning behind all this. So tell me what are your intentions for this summit?". The question was asked, but Horus more impressed by the old geezer's knowledge of the whole meeting. It wasn't even that long since the meeting had happened. And yet this old bastard was already onto Horus. The walls must have ears or something of the like. The old man stood at five foot five inches tall. A shinobi, that had matured in age over time, now sixty years of age or so. His hair had turned Grey, not that one could see it at the moment. He was wearing a white robe, along with a hood to cover his head. A brown cane was being carried by the man for him to lean on. The old timer also sported a white beard, one that wasn't overgrown. It was kept tidy, which was a plus for Horus, otherwise the man could be mistaken for a pervert.

"Bravo, bravo, as expected you're well informed. Honestly? I cant say for sure what my intentions are, but I wish to negotiate with the other villages. Maybe we can share resources and tackle some issues together. If not at all possible or advisable then I shall heed your council old friend. For now though, my underling is on his way back. And it would appear that our guests have gone home". Horus could sense that Vaati would soon arrive at his destination. The old timer paused for a moment, perhaps to give some further thought to what Horus had said. Things of that nature will have to go on hold now. Vaati had arrived at the office, and appeared to be in a hurry of sorts. The old vagabond looked at his student, who he hadn't given a lesson yet and replied saying. "Go ahead". Hopefully Vaati would have some positive news to tell him.

Vaati looked toward the elder, then back to the Kazekage. Did he really wish for him to fully disclose the information in public? He thought for a moment if he should request a more private audience, however he didn't wish to appear insubordinate nor insult the present company. He would have to trust his master's judgement. "Lord Kazekage, There was an explosion at the oasis, and I have reason to suspect the involvement of foreign ninja." He looked back toward the elder. His words were vague enough to imply the involvement of the Hokage and his companions while lacking clarification. "Perhaps we should ajorn to your office for my full report". Vaati would wait a moment for the Kazekage's reply. Should he agree Vaati would follow him into his office before continuing, If not he would continue immediately.

Vaati took a moment to catch his breath as he finished. The Kazekage would no doubt have questions. He would make sure to answer. Reaching into his pouch, he pulled out the two smaller bags. One containing a 2 inch long splinter from the platform, the other containing the finger tip from a left hand pinky finger. His eyes looked out a nearby window. focusing upon the rain dripping from the windowstil. It was a shame that it had begun to rain. It made the job he left for those other ninja back at the Oasis that much harder with the weather attempting to wipe away the evidence.

"No need. That man you see standing there is one of my most trusted advisors. So what has happened?". The Kazekage seemed calm and collecting, taking his time to process Vaati's words. They held certain implications, and Horus had begun thinking about the worse case scenario. The mention of an explosion must be something of importance. Otherwise, it would be pointless to even lead in with such information. Horus was all ears now as he so eagerly awaiting further details about this report. The old geezer was also keen on what Vaati had to report back to the Kazekage. Maybe it was a good thing the man was on hand to hear what was being said first hand. The old timer possessed certain skills, which includes powers of deduction gained from years of experience. The vagabond was amazed by Vaati's ability to go into detail and not rush his report. While Horus would have liked the boy to get to the point, maybe going through it step by step was the best thing to do in the end. The mention of the names Akira and Oboro was all too familiar. It wasn't long ago that he heard those names, since he can remember Ryujin calling out to them. The mention of an invitation soon put things into perspective for the Kazekage. If he were to make a guess, the Hyuga must be the other person who turned up at the Kazekage's office just before the meeting had started.

The Kazekage had kept a close eye on it all through his sensory, being able to pick out who was present and who wasn't. From that he could already deduce that Vaati was referring to the two Konoha Nins who accompanied Ryujin. And then there was the Hyuga who was the Suna Shinobi, albeit unknown to some degree. Vaati also made the correct decision by keeping a closer eye on the Hokage himself. While it was important that nothing happened to their guests, the Hokage's relationship with Horus was more important. By now the rain had subsided completely as the clouds parted and the sunshine shone through. "Nani?". Just what was he hearing from Vaati at this point? Sealing formula being left behind and clones? Horus can distinctly remember Ryujin mentioning the Flying Thunder God technique. He spoke as if he was especially familiar with it too. The sealing formula could mean one of several things. It was a trap, or a way of monitoring the village. Or it could easily be a way to perform a remote attack, that would have an area of effect within the village. The mention of the explosion earlier made the vagabond think of such a possibility. But he also thought of these formulas being put in place so that the Hokage could enter the village at any point. If he does indeed possess any space time Jutsu, then that's all bad news.

The report carried on and as it progressed, Horus had begun to feel more and more betrayed by what he had hearing. He could feel his blood began to boil over, thinking about Konoha's trespasses against his village. The irony of the situation may push the Kazekage over the edge. Part of Horus' conversation with the man related to people coming as wolves in sheep clothing. It would now appear that Ryujin was that wolf, and the Kazekage had been taken in by the man. Then came the point where Vaati spoke of the altercation and all that followed. There was no denying, Ryujin announced himself to be a Senju. And with two clones appearing and the wood element being put to use. Horus had no choice but the see this as a direct attack against the village and its inhabitants. The Kazekage's eyes widened when Vaati spoke of the explosion and the aftermath. By the Kazekage's count, three Suna Shinobi were present and was attacked. A massive explosion followed on, and by the sounds of it all, it left those Sunagakure Shinobi beyond the point of recognition. The right hand of the vagabond rose and was placed over his face. The shock, the grief, the betrayal, the emotions that flowed through the man grew intense. His anger levels rose, as a flame like pattern began to spread from his neck area and all over his body.

The was also another evolution within the Kazekage too, with his curse seal being activated. But as his eyes opened, his Chakra levels increased carrying a most sinister vibe to it. The thing was almost eerie as Horus looked on at Vaati with cold eyes. The old geezer could sense what was coming. Interestingly enough, while Horus was aware of the curse seal suddenly activating in response to his anger. The vagabond hadn't realized another important change in his eyes, which saw him awaken something he didn't even know was possible. The usual green eyes of the Kazekage turned red with a single tomoe attached to the pupil. Meanwhile a single hand seal was formed by the old timer, before performing a speedily body flicker. One which took him behind Horus while applying a sealing tag to the back of the vagabond's neck. This was the old geezer's countermeasure towards the curse seal. "Get a grip, can you not see what is happening?". The old timer declared while also trying to restrain the Kazekage. The seal patterns began to recede as Horus regained his composure. It was only then that he noticed being able to see things in a different way. "Boy! As the Kazekage's student you will say nothing of what happened just now. Not yet anyways".

Horus paused for a moment before exhaling and standing up straight. "Vaati, forgive me. I am simply pissed off right now. It would seem Konoha drew first blood, and it is only natural that we respond appropriately. I need you to send those samples to the medical units and to the Anbu corps. I want to know who that finger belonged to, and I need a reading on the Chakra that was used to form that wood. The Kage summit is coming up and I will have words with the Hokage. Another thing, please tell me exactly where the Hokage placed those seals of his. I want to inspect them myself. Can ya take me there?". He probably had no right asking Vaati for help, considering what he was about to do. His eyes still remained the same as he stood there. He was getting used to having such clarity in his eyes. His normal Chakra also felt different, he felt empowered now.

"By the way, ya did me proud. Maybe if I were present, the Hokage and his cronies wouldn't have been presented with this opportunity in the first place". By now the old geezer had released his grip on Horus and also removed the tag that was placed on him. The man remained silent, while seemingly in awe of what had transpired within the Kazekage. Things was changing for the man and really fast. If anything, they needed to have a talk at some point.

ooc: as the stuff I mentioned about FTG seals was ultimately inaccurate, lets just consider this Vaati choosing to fan the flames.. using some truth to hide a lie as seen below...

Vaati watched his master as he underwent some sort of transformation. Immediatly, he could feel his internal senses going off as a massive surge of both power and might began to rise within the Kazekage. He took note, it did not appear to take much to force him into a frenzy. Were it not for the old geezer, who knows what might have happened. That... Yes, THAT.. made Vaati's choice to inform the hokage all worthwhile. His left hand patted the small stone that remained in his pouch alongside a few more splinters of wood.

He watched as the old man placed a tag upon Horus's neck. Was that the point of the power Vaati had come to see? However, throughout Horus's ordeal, Vaati did naught but flinch, remaining stoic and emotionless as ever. Upon hearing the old man's words he merely closed his eyes and nodded, before listening to the Kazekage's words.

"Actually, master, on the way back I managed to take a glimpse of one such formula location, the marker was gone. Chances are the rest of them will be as well, the Hokage covering his tracks, it seems" he paused, allowing the disappointment from his words to sink in. The Kazekage then responding with praise. Vaati continued. " I did find something, however." his voice trailed off as he returned the bags with the 2 items into his pouch and pulled out a small 5 inch round flat stone. Inked in the center of the stone was the formula that Vaati had described earlier. "I found this embedded within the wooden pillar when I went to take samples. The explosion must have lodged it there. Perhaps he assumed it was destroyed in the explosion, or perhaps he simply forgot." Reaching out he attempted to hand the small stone over to Horus.

The single tomoe that appeared vanished as the Kazekage's eyes returned to their normal selves. He would need to make some time to have a talk with the old geezer about what had transpired. The Kazekage in the meantime listened to what Vaati had to say. Vaati always seemed detailed and accurate in his reports. The man didn't have much reason to doubt the Genin at this point. That didn't mean to say he wouldn't push forth and have external sources examine the scenes. A question was asked and it demanded an answer, and Vaati would surely provide it. The thought of seals being placed in the village by Konoha was a worrying prospect. However, as the Kazekage got his hopes up, Vaati crushed these very hopes by reporting that the sealing formulas had disappeared. The thought of the Hokage wanting to cover his tracks did make sense. But at the same time Horus needed something a little more concrete than what had presented itself so far. The Kazekage accepted the stone and began to inspect it, recognizing that it was indeed a sealing formula. He was very familiar with tags or markings of a similar nature too. "Good work, now I can see about researching this sealing formula. In the mean time Vaati-kun, please take those samples and have em inspected. I want to know the identity of those supposed deceased individuals. Please have the Fuuinjutsu team make an imprint of the Chakra signature. I should then be able to tell whether or not it belonged to the Hokage. Ya dismissed for now, since I have some other business I need to attend to. Unless of course you have some other business with me.". Horus had to go prepare for a number of things. One was the meeting, and another thing was the fact that something had awakened inside him. He needed answers and fast, otherwise he might be left out in the dark.

"It's time" the words rang through his head once again. The frequency of the whispered words running through his head bordering on the insane. Were the words real or just another form of psychosis, perhaps a genjutsu his mother had placed him under. He didn't know, he didn't care. The Kazekage's words were received, but he keyed in on the last few, hanging on them as they left his lips. For the first time in a while, the young child tensed up. Ironically, passing lies to the kage carried less weight for him then the request he had been awaiting to ask. His nine-year-old side was beginning to show. "um, yes..." He stumbled, almost lost for words.... He went through the entire report flawlessly, detailed, but now when he actually needed something, it was almost like the anticipation alone prevented the words from flowing from him. "I believe, you have been sent a missive" he started, stumbling through his sentence. "from my clan." he finished, taking a short pause to descramble the words in his brain for his next sentence. "They request that I return to my homeland for my rite of passage, by passing the trials of the Haunted Wasteland." Was that it... Did he actually ask a question? No, the question was implied. But, unfortunately, he would need to give more. "Should I succeed, the powers that lie dormant in my blood will be awakened." Suddenly like lightning, his words began to take traction as he finished his thought. "Which may be needed soon." The last few words, were said more uniformly then the rest. His feelings were finally back under control. He couldn't help to admit, however, that the anticipation he had during few moments of silence as he awaited the Kage's response, were neigh unbearable.

The Kazekage pondered Vaati's request for a few moments. Now being played and preyed upon without even realizing it by the crafty youngster. It was Vaati's right to be given the opportunity to go through this rite of passage. And the vagabond saw no reason to stand in the boy's way, although he wanted Vaati to carry on working for him. Horus looked at the stripling before nodding positively at him. "I did receive such a request, and I shall grant it. But you may only depart on this mission of yours, after you've gotten those samples to the right people. Do that and have someone report back to me. Then you may go, and I hope ya rites of passage go swimmingly for ya. Now then dismissed, since I have business to attend to. Take care, I'm off to make my preparations now". The Vagabond stated having given permission to embark on his own personal quest. He didn't question the boy much about how long this would take. Instead the Kazekage will have someone keep a close eye on his progress and potential also. In the mean time though, Horus had a number things that he needed to get in order. There was the situation with Konoha, which also includes the Kage summit that was just around the corner. He shall take great pleasure in confront Ryujin his friend. The village needed to be put on lock down and an investigation needed to be carried out before too much time has passed.

Vaati breathed an internal sigh of relief at the sound of the Kage's words. "Its Time" the words rang against through his mind. Yes, it was. He would silently think to himself. "Yes, Kazekage-sama, at once... and" he paused, taking a deep breath before bowing down. "Thank you" he waited a moment more with his head parallel to the floor before rising once more, instantly dashing out of the Kage's sight as if he had just been ordered to disperse or scatter. The stone he once held, now in the possession of Horus. His new destination was quite known to him, it was near the office of his former master, Voltaire, deep in the HQ's sublevels. He walked directly into the lab, before being questioned by the on duty medic, working in the lab. Taking the items from his pouch, he gave the ninja the Kazekage's orders along with the items before informing the ninja of the additional items that would soon be flooding in from the investigative unit that had been collecting additional samples at the site. His duty done, he turned to leave, his mind beginning to focus on the task rapidly approaching. He would head home to prepare himself and begin to make preparations for desert travel.
